Sausage & Macaroni Casserole
- 1 pound sausage meat
- 1 onion — chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 garlic clove — chopped
- 3 cups macaroni — cooked
- 1 cup mushrooms — drained
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 cup spaghetti sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon basil
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
- breadcrumbs — (opt)
- grated cheese
Preheat oven to 350F. Saute sausage meat until light brown. Drain fat, separate meat with fork, set aside. Saute onion, garlic & mushrooms. Add sausage meat, spices. Stir in sauce. Add macaroni & stir. Arrange alternate layers of macaroni-meat mixture and cottage cheese; ending with meat. Top with bread crumbs & cheese if desired. Bake at 350F for 25-30 min.
