Sausage & Macaroni Casserole

1. 1 pound sausage meat
2. 1 onion — chopped
3. 1/4 teaspoon pepper
4. 1 garlic clove — chopped
5. 3 cups macaroni — cooked
6. 1 cup mushrooms — drained
7. 1 cup cottage cheese
8. 1/4 teaspoon oregano
9. 1/4 cup spaghetti sauce
10. 1/4 teaspoon basil
11. 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
12. 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
13. breadcrumbs — (opt)
14. grated cheese

Preheat oven to 350F. Saute sausage meat until light brown. Drain fat, separate meat with fork, set aside. Saute onion, garlic & mushrooms. Add sausage meat, spices. Stir in sauce. Add macaroni & stir. Arrange alternate layers of macaroni-meat mixture and cottage cheese; ending with meat. Top with bread crumbs & cheese if desired. Bake at 350F for 25-30 min.
